DECITEL
DECITEL – Democratic Citizenship Teaching and Learning – is a 3-year Erasmus+ project that brings together schools, universities, and education experts from across Europe to strengthen how Citizenship Education is taught at all levels, from early years to secondary school. The project focuses on training and supporting teachers to help students become active, informed citizens who understand their rights, respect others, and feel empowered to shape society. DECITEL develops new training programmes, teaching materials, and international learning opportunities for teachers, both online and in person. It also promotes collaboration between education providers and local governments, aiming to influence education policy and improve teacher training across Europe.
The project, coordinated by Boğaziçi University of Istanbul and involving the EIP Lab, the DARE Network, the European Parents Association, Hogeschool Gent, University of Ioannina, OBESSU, Université Côte d’Azur, UNIMORE, Universitatea Politehnica Bucuresti, Vienna Forum for Democracy and Human Rights and IC Molassana e Prato, with Centrul National de Politici Si Evaluare in Educatie as an associated partner, aims at:

Creating new training programmes for teachers of Citizenship Education, with fresh curriculum ideas, learning materials, and teaching methods.

Promoting real international learning experiences – both online and in person – for teachers across Europe.

Building a strong network of teacher training providers, working together with local governments and education stakeholders.

Proposing joint European degrees and common learning modules, so teachers everywhere can benefit from shared knowledge and resources.

Influencing education policy by sharing good practices and innovative approaches developed through the project.
