Do you dare to interfere? Take action against bullying!
Estonian School Student Councils’ Union (ESCU), together with Estonian Union for Child Welfare, is planning to launch a national campaign in March 2016 to promote tolerance in schools called “The Tolerant School.”
The goal of this campaign is to raise awareness on the topic of school bullying, focusing not just on the physical aspect but also on the overall meaning of tolerance in order to create and promote a better school environment.
During the campaign we are planning to do social actions such as “Do you dare to interfere?” focusing on school students and which goal is to clear the ground for the preparation of promotional materials to be used during the National Tolerance Day in Estonia. Furthermore, to make the campaign more interactive we are using techniques of the forum theatre, which aim is to reenact every-day school bullying situations and let participants to interfere and “fix” the situations on stage.
The tolerance day will be the culmination of the whole campaign and on that day, several roundtables across the country will take place. By doing that, we hope to get as much inputs and media coverage as possible to help the people to acknowledge the need of a tolerant school environment. Moreover, we will also publish online all the different materials to tackle school bullying and best practices collected during this project. These materials could later be used by teachers, youth workers and students and ensure in the future a continuing focus on this crucial topic.
To achieve this and to make a very powerful campaign we would need your support. Due to our government cuts on funding this kind of projects, we launched a crowdfunding campaign on Kickstarter and we would like to ask you to support our project. If we prove that we have been supported on the European level there will be a bigger chance in getting more attention by national stakeholders but also it will seem more attractive and more trustworthy to funders, students and other possible supporters.
