OBESSU Position Paper on Validation of Non-Formal and Informal Learning (NFIL)

Learning does not only happen inside classrooms, and it is long past time for education systems to recognise that. The skills young people develop through activism, volunteering, youth organisations, and everyday life are real, valuable, but systematically ignored. OBESSU calls on European institutions and Member States to build coherent, accessible, and learner-centred frameworks for validating non-formal and informal learning and to start treating student organising not as a disruption to be punished, but as a competence to be recognised.
