OBESSU Statement in Solidarity with Serbian Student Protests

On November 1^st, 2025, a canopy in the railway station of Novi Sad collapsed, killing 15 people and severely injuring two more. Investigations and researches attribute the tragedy to corruption and substandard reconstruction of the station, with the involvement of Ministers and President. Following these events, the FDU students collectively decided to start protesting by blocking their Faculty’s building, reclaiming it for themselves. OBESSU calls on all national and international institutions, as well as civil society organisations, to take position in condemning the Serbian Government’s actions, and sustain the ongoing protest.
