OBESSU Policy Paper on Education Funding and Student Welfare

Education cannot claim to be free when students are quietly paying for it every day, through transport, meals, materials, housing, and the social activities that are inseparable from learning. These hidden costs fall hardest on those who can least afford them, turning an unequal society into an unequal school. OBESSU calls on all European governments and EU institutions to confront the true cost of education and ensure that no student is left behind simply because their family cannot afford for them to show up.
