OBESSU Policy Paper on Minority Rights

OBESSU recognises that linguistic and ethnic minority students are too often invisible in the systems that are meant to serve them, from missing textbooks in their native language to curricula that erase their history and identity. Across Europe, racist tensions are on the rise, and schools are not immune. OBESSU calls on all European governments and EU institutions to recognise minority language rights in law, invest in truly inclusive education from the earliest years, and build school communities where every student’s background is treated as an asset, not an obstacle.
