OBESSU Policy Paper on Student Welfare – Renewed in 2020

Student welfare is a precondition to education, not an add-on. A student who cannot afford a meal, who faces discrimination in the hallways, or who has no one to turn to when their mental health deteriorates, cannot fully exercise their right to learn. OBESSU calls on all European governments and EU institutions to guarantee the economic, social, and physical well-being of every school student, and to build schools that are not just places of instruction, but of dignity, safety, and genuine human development.
