The European Network on Educational Leadership (EduLEAD) is an initiative dedicated to strengthening collaborative school leadership as a key driver of supportive, high-quality learning environments across Europe. By connecting a wide range of education stakeholders—including students, parents, teachers, school leaders, policymakers, and other relevant actors—the project fosters dialogue, shared responsibility, and collective action. It recognises the central role of school leadership in shaping learning outcomes by influencing the motivation, capacities, and well-being of students, teachers, and school communities, while also contributing to positive and inclusive school environments. In response to the growing need to prepare students as holistic individuals, equipped with the skills, competencies, and values required for democratic participation and the evolving labour market, the project promotes collaborative school leadership as a framework for creating supportive learning and working environments, ultimately contributing to more resilient, inclusive, and future-oriented education systems across Europe.
The core objectives of the project are:
- To strengthen the Educational Leadership Network (ELNE), a broad and sustainable Europe-wide community that supports institutions across Europe in addressing the new needs of European education systems, in line with the objectives set by the European Education Area (EEA).
- To collect and showcase existing research and good practices which are educational and can be good examples for other organisations and institutions to implement the EEA goals. This includes the reduction of early school leaving, enhancing the wellbeing of students, teachers, and school leaders, the digitisation of schools, the continuous professional training of teachers and school leaders.
- To promote co-operation, development and implementation of EU policy at different governance levels.
- To support the Commission’s policy work on teachers and school leaders in the context of the European Education Area.
