European Commission’s unit for VET supports OBESSU’s campaign on VET

Thursday 3th of May, Viviana Galli, Secretary General , and Tiia Meuronen, VET Officer, had a meeting with the European Commission’s unit for Vocational Education and Training to present the new OBESSU campaign on VET.

The Head of Unit, Joao Delgado, had invited OBESSU to present OBESSU’s work on VET and the campaign Claim Your Voice! Stand up for VET!

OBESSU and the VET unit share the concern of the lack of appreciation towards VET and VET Students, one of the issues the campaign “Claim Your Voice!” is tackling. The employability of VET students and young people in Europe and the diversity of Vocational Education and Training systems in Europe were also discussed. Mr. Delgado also underlined the importance of systems’ premeability (that is the possibility of changing educational paths for example from VET to academic studies and viceversa), as well as the good examples set by the dual systems.

The Unit of Vocational Education expressed its support to the Claim Your Voice-campaign and expressed the wish to strenghten future co-operation between OBESSU and the their unit to work together on Vocational Education and Training.
