GSSUA @Civic Education Teachers Forum

On saturday the 25th of February, the Georgian School Students Alliance (GSSUA), was invited to the Civic Education Teachers Forum. The representative of the alliance, Sulkhan Chargeishvili, made a presentation about how the alliance was created and good practice in teaching civic education. Also, he emphasized exactly how important it is for teachers to support students and make sure they are actively involved in school life and use their civic education in real life.

The Teachers Forum was held in the Tbilisi Event Hall. Approximately 300 teachers, school directors and civic education experts attended it. The respected guests of the forum were the depute minister of Education and Science, Irina Qurdadze and the USA International Development Agency Caucasian mission director Mr. Stephen Haykin.

The GSSUA’s participation in this forum was a great opportunity because they got to educate and inspire people working in civic education. They were able to share their experience of working in this sphere with them.

The forum proved successful because many participants expressed their desire to learn more about our organisation and share it with their students.

This is the first extensive, countrywide forum. Its aim was to introduce the new reformations and innovations in the sphere of civic education and bring together various teachers who shared their experience with each other. Also it showed the importance of civic education and raising the prestige of civic education teachers.

The Teachers Forum was held withing the Applied civic education and teachers training program (ACCETT). The program is held by the organization PH International. It is financed by the USA International Development Agency (USAID).

The GSSUA continues to participate in such activities and is trying to establish itself as a respected youth non-governmental organization.
