GSSUA organises conference and gets media coverage!

The Georgian School Students Unions Alliance (GSSUA), OBESSU’s new contact organisation from Georgia, is offering projects and activities to Georgian school students. Earlier this month, they were invited in the show “Youth Opinion”. Last week GSSUA organised its first conference in Tbilisi, Georgia.

Earlier this month, GSSUA students were invited for a talk in the show “Youth Opinion” by national radio and internet television. Founder of the GSSUA, Sulkhan Chargeishvili, and members of initiative group, Gubaz Koberidze and Sophie Gelashvili, spoke about their initiatives and school student’s rights. On the 19th of November GSSUA organised its first conference with the theme “International Students Day” which was on the 17th of November. The main aim of the conference was to spread information about student governments and organisations to the whole Georgian student body. Students representing their own clubs, governments and organisations were selected from the whole country to participate in the conference. The conference informed students about how their organisations can become members of the GSSUA. They also discussed the future aims of the GSSUA.

The “Light on the rights” OBESSU documentary, about the journey through fifteen European countries, was shown and the participants were informed about OBESSU and its goals. The supporters of the organisation are the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Sport and Youth Affairs. The financer is the “Civil Institutionalizm Development Fund”.
