GSSUA organises “forum theater”
The “forum theater” event was held on Saturday, 7th April at the Rikhe park. This event, organised by the Georgian School Students Unions Alliance (GSSUA), was basically an improvisation of the theater.
The “forum theater” is a new art direction which is used to display the opinions of people about social problems and how they can be solved through theatrical improvisation. The participants were divided into four groups and each group worked on a different problem.The performances were staged on various themes, such as: overcoming violence in youth, fighting discrimination against students with disabilities, education accessibility and students involvement in school life. 15 schools from Tbilisi took part in the forum theater.
The project was financed by the Ministry of Sports and Youth Affairs child and youth development fund grant. The aim of the project is to raise the youths awareness in social and civil matters and increase their involvement in public affairs. The media took a great interest in the project and highlighted it in the news of some of the leading media channels of Georgia, as can be seen in the video above and this video.GSSUA was pleasantly surprised by how active the participants were. The school students were enthusiastic and most of them expressed a desire to become official members of the organisation.
Similar events will be held in eight other Georgian regions. In the end the alliance will review each regions’ solution to its problems and take the solutions into account in the GSSUA’s future plans. We are making sure that school students all over will know the name of the GSSUA and discover more about leading an active school life with us.
