Light on the Rights Bus Tour one of the best Europe for Citizens projects!

OBESSU’s Lights on the Rights Bus Tour was selected with 24 other projects as best examples of projects within the Europe for Citizens Programme of the European Commission. All these projects are introduced in the new “The Citizens Effect” brochure by the Commission. The Light on the Rights Bus Tour also won the the 3rd prize of the Civil Society Prize 2011 awarded by the European Economic and Social Committee (EESC).

The idea behind the Light on the Rights Bus Tour was project to ask those who form the target group of education to have their say and commit themselves. In September 2010, a team of students of different nationalities embarked on a ten thousand kilometers bus trip to talk about school student rights and wider social issues. OBESSU arranged the tour to fulfill this mission and go through 15 countries in 45 days. The young travelers encouraged fellow students to be more interested in political issues that directly affect students and their rights, inspiring them to be more active in the democratic processes.
