LMS Spring Forum – XVIII Assembly

The first weekend of April, the city of Kaunas became not only the capital of students, due to the General Assembly (GA) of the Lithuanian School Students’ Unions (LMS), but also the capital of active, motivated school students. It has become a tradition to organize the annual LMS Spring Forum – XVIII Assembly in Kaunas.

About 300 delegates from 120 school student councils gathered for the GA. During the General Assembly the former LMS president Vygintas Eidėnas presented the annual financial and activity reports of the organisation and the statutes were amended with a vast majority. The most  anticipated part of the General Assembly was the elections of the new President and Monitoring Committee.  Antanas Mikalauskas was elected as the new head of the organisation, and Algirdas Dvarionas, Vygintas Eidėnas and Justinas Gecevičius as the new Monitoring Committee.

“I call the Lithuanian School Students’ Union a school of life. I am a student activist since almost five years. I believe that my experience will help the organisation to represent school students and also fight for their rights“ said the new President Antanas Mikalauskas.

The Lithuanian School Students‘ Union is a dynamic organization, capable to react quickly for changing societies needs and judicial situations. Its structure has changed a number of times, through finding better models and continuously developing, and this helps us to be the most productive while reaching our chosen purposes. Some of the aims have not changed since the beginning of LMS’s work and some are created by taking into account new needs and problems of school students.
