Romániai Magyar Középiskolások szövetsége (MAKOSZ)
MAKOSZ was founded in 1990, a year after communism ended. The organisation was created by and for the Hungarian school students, in order to ensure representation in decision-making processes.
MAKOSZ is not recognised by the government nor helped or supported. For this reason the organisation’s financial situation is very difficult and daily struggles are needed to face these kinds of problems. Nevertheless, MAKOSZ continues fighting for equal rights and Hungarian representation in Romania.

In 2007 Makosz doubled the amount of the financial support the students get for going to school. Moreover, Makosz fought to have a financial help also for those school students who are over 18.
In 2013 the organisation started a campaign called FreEbooks, because after the 10th grade students have to buy their books (education must to be free!). The aim was to ensure them free books or eBooks. Through demonstrations and a petition, 2 years after, some schools started introducing eBooks for the 2nd graders.
