OBESSU attending the 2024 Sakharov Prize Ceremony at the European Parliament

On the 17th and 18th of December, OBESSU – represented by our Head of External Affairs – joined a group of Civil Society Organisations (CSO) traveling to the European Parliament in Strasbourg (FR) to attend the Sakharov Prize Ceremony and take part in an activity focusing on how to support the promotion of the Parliament’s flagship human rights event. 

Building on the fruitful and interactive discussions with the finalists, CSO representatives worked together and shared ideas and recommendations to

• further promote the Prize and its affiliated process,
• raise awareness about the work and efforts of the fifinalists and fellow activists, aknowledging their role as defenders of human rights and freedom of expression, and
• how to work closer with the Parliament and the Sakharov Prize Community, fostering a stronger cooperation with greater and wider impact.
