Representing school students in another important structure
As the voice of European school students, OBESSU wants to be represented in all the structures where topics concerning learners and school students are being discussed; and where decisions concerning school students’ education, well being and future are being made. One of the structures that the OBESSU Board has identified as crucial is Council of Europe’s Steering Committee for Educational Policy and Practice (CDPPE).
Symbolically, OBESSU sent a letter of request for observership on the 17th of November 2013, the day when we celebrated the International Day of Students and the day on which we always aim to put a light on school student rights.
We were given the opportunity to present ourselves at the CDPPE meeting which took place between the 25th and 27th March in Strasbourg. After the presentation by Board member Daša Koribaničova and after a short discussion amongst the members of the Committee, it was unanimously decided that the observer status will be granted to OBESSU. This is a great recognition of the fact that OBESSU is considered a representative organisation in the field of secondary school education. At the moment, observership is granted to two organisations: European Student Union (ESU) and OBESSU.
We would like to thank CDPPE for granting us observership status and we are ready to prove our expertise!
