At the upcoming Council of Members of the European Youth Forum (YFJ), a vote will be held to elect 20 out of 30 members of the Advisory Council on Youth (AC). The AC is a Council of Europe body which provides opinions and input on all youth sector activities. It also ensures that young people are involved in other activities of the Council of Europe.

OBESSU is very excited to nominate one of our Board Members – Larissa Nenning – as a candidate to the Advisory Council on Youth 2018 | 2019.

Larissa, a 22 year old school student activist, has been active since the age of 16 in different local, regional and national structures of school student representation. With her grass-roots experience, and her current involvement in European advocacy work, Larissa has a strong profile to represent especially the young people in the age of 14-21.

The three key areas Larissa proposes to focus on, if elected, are: (1) fundamental role of education in shaping youth participation, (2) improving young people's access to rights and (3) migrant and refugee education and its role for inclusion in society.

Larissa does not stand alone – entire Board of OBESSU is supporting her in building a vision for our presence in the Advisory Council. As our organisation has a long history of cooperation with the Council of Europe, especially its Youth Department, we are sure that we can contribute largely through Larissa’s mandate in the AC, as well as take this change as a development opportunity for OBESSU.

Stay tuned for more details on Larissa’s ideas – we will be launching them via social media channels soon!
