It is a pleasure to introduce myself as the first volunteer at OBESSU under the Erasmus+ project of European Solidarity Corps (ESC).

I am Eleonora, I have officially and happily joined the team of OBESSU Secretariat on the 22nd of June and I will be focusing on Communication and Advocacy topics, while being open to learn more and get involved in all the different projects of the organisation.

I studied Languages and Communication in Cagliari, my hometown in Sardinia (Italy) and I have been always active in volunteering activities since then, both in local and European students organisations.

Last year, this background and interests brought me to Liverpool, where I had the possibility to work in a multicultural environment for a NGO which focuses on social inclusion and personal development. This experience has put me in contact with various ESC volunteers, who inspired me with their passion and positive attitude, leading me to OBESSU, where I can combine all my interests.

I am starting a journey that will last one year in a non typical situation: in fact, I am currently based in Cagliari, waiting to join my amazing team in Brussels soon, when the global and European health situation will be safer for us all.

While it seems controversial to begin a volunteering project “abroad-to-be” from home, it does not make it less exciting to me.

In this time of immobility and uncertainty, there is nothing more refreshing than stepping into a new and challenging experience and I hope to transmit the same freshness that I feel even from the distance, while getting ready for the big jump into OBESSUland!
