Hi everyone! My name is Gilda and on November 16th I officially joined the OBESSU Secretariat as the new Research and Policy Assistant

I recently graduated African Studies and Swahili at SOAS, University of London. I have been active for the last 7 years in the field of formal and non-formal education as a fruitor (as student), provider (as teacher), facilitator and interpreter amongst other things.

As Research and Policy Assistant, I will be working on a research project to investigate the impact of Covid-19 on Secondary Schools across Europe. The research findings will support and inform OBESSU's Policy and Advocacy work.

My previous research project, conducted while studying at university, focused on menstruation vernaculars(=languages) in Swahili and their implication for Menstrual Health Management (MHM) developmental strategies in Nairobi, Kenya.

Although I was born and raised in Rome (Italy) - and believe me, I miss the climate every single day! - I am currently based in London, where I started working remotely. I look forward to joining the rest of the team in Belgium as soon as the current health crisis allows, and persuade them all to join my half marathon training!

Please feel free to reach out to me if you are part of and/or conducting a similar research project, or for any other query at gilda@obessu.org
