As 2018 started, OBESSU’s Working Group on Mental Health kicks off with it. On the 15th of January, the Working Group members had their very first online meeting. Mental health is one of the key topics in OBESSU’s 2018 Implementation Plan and the Working Group plays a crucial role in the process.

The group, composed of Olivia Klein (USO, Switzerland), Evelin Sulea (AKS, Austria), Kolfinna Dofradóttir (SÍF, Iceland), Tijan Derganc (DOS, Slovenia), Emilie Jäntti (FSS, Finland), Sara Þöll and Larissa Nenning (OBESSU Board members), will map the situation of mental health of European school students, alongside with preparing an awareness-raising campaign which will be based on the welfare research OBESSU conducted in 2017. The campaign will focus on how the school community can create a more supportive school environment for students with mental health issues, giving concrete proposals to create a preventive and more supportive school environment. It will run over the course of this year.

In June 2018 the Working Group will hold a workshop linked with the campaign at the European Youth Event and Yo!Fest, in Strasbourg (France). This will be a great opportunity to inform other youth and civil society organisations, policy-makers and young activists about our work on Mental Health.

Keep an eye on our website and social media, more information on the Working Group will be released in the next months.
