OBESSU does a lot of policy work: We participated in the consultation of the next strategic priorities of the European Youth Forum and the Youth and Lifelong Learning programme. Currently we are busy with the preparation of a VET campaign, the 7th European School Student Convention and the COMEM. These events will take place in Oslo in December!

On policy level we have also worked on the consultation of the next strategic priorities of the European Youth Forum, stressing the importance to focus on formal education since most young people are affected in a huge variety of ways from their period at school. Formal education is fundamental for every young people’s personal and social development and it is fundamental that a platform representing young people dedicates energies and resources to ensure high quality education and accessibility to all.

OBESSU is also very much involved in the advocacy efforts related to the future of the Youth and Lifelong Learning programme together with other 27 civil society organisations. The first proposal from the Commission (LINK TO our ARTICLE about this) is now being discussed by the European Parliament and Council and we are advocating for keeping the proposed increased budget for the programme and for an equal distribution of the resources among the different strands the programme will include.

Last but not least, we are working on the preparation for the 7th European School Student Convention and the upcoming Council of Members which will take place in Oslo in December.
