On the 19th and 20th of July, OBESSU held its General Assembly. Following health measures and driven by willingness to stay safe, this General Assembly took place online again. 

During these two days OBESSU’s Membership had the opportunity to discuss important matters for the organisation while enjoying some funny moments between Delegates, Members of the Board and the Staff. 

The Membership participated in several discussion corners to tackle topics such as COVID-19, mental health and wellbeing of school students, Conference on the Future of Europe, Membership related issues and many more. 

Furthermore several policy papers were renewed during this General Assembly, the policy paper on the Concept of Consent, Innovation in Education, Mental Health in Schools, School Student Guidelines on Global Citizenship Education, Refugee and Migrant Rights in Education: A school Student perspective.

We also heard several updates on the existing projects such as European Change Makers Academy, Stronger School Student Unions, Brave New You, Ecofighters, the Sirius 2.0 project, Generation D-Liberation, Citized and Europe@home and we collected inputs for future projects.

Finally, this GA was marked by the celebration of elections for the Board and the Monitoring Committee. 

The new Board is composed of five Members: Alexandra Seybal, nominated by AKS, Austria and Nadine Toye, nominated by ISSU, Ireland were reelected and and the newly elected Board Members are Caridad Alarcón Sanchez, nominated by CANAE, Spain, Rareș Voicu, nominated by CNE, Romania and Petr Franc, nominated by CSU, Czech Republic

The new Monitoring Committee has been renewed too, the new Members are:  Cătălin Ilieș, nominated by CNE, Romania, Emilie Jäntti, nominated by FSS, Finland, Gearoid O'Donovan, nominated by ISSU, Ireland, Adrian Barbaros, former Board Member. 

We would like to thank all the poeople involed in this GA: the Members, all the OBESSU bodies and the two amazing chairs Ana and Ela that made the event smooth and fun!
