‘Speak Together’ Event in Cluj-Napoca!
OBESSU carried out the ‘Speak Together’ Minority Languages Event in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from the 4th to the 10th of October 2019. ‘Speak Together’ came out as a follow-up of Seeds for Integration, which has been greatly developed in the past 3 years in our Member Organisations.

From the 14th of October of 2019, OBESSU has a new Programme Assistant who will be supporting the Secretariat and specifically the Secretary General in its daily work. Her name is Mariam Barhandi, from Italy, but living in Brussels for the past years.

We continue our field visits with UEM!
We are back in full power after the summer, and apart from many events for the whole membership, many advocacy trips, we have had the opportunity to visit another organisation from our membership for a field visit!

Between 3-6 October, our Membership and Capacity Building Officer Dasa and OBESSU Alumna Viviana, our former Secretary General, visited UEM in Chisinau, Moldova. The field visits are a part of the Stronger School Student Unions (SSSU).

OBESSU joined the 100 Million delegation at the UN General Assembly 2019!
OBESSU joined the 100 Million delegation at the UN General Assembly 2019!
Our Board member Edvardas and our Secretary General Giuseppina Tucci were invited, togehter with other international activists, to join as official partners and supporters, the 100 Million delegation in New York City, a campaign initiated by the Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kailash Satyarthi that deals with children slavery, denied access to fundamental human rights, education and children poverty. This was the opportunity to present the 100 Million report and to speak up for children justice. Edvardas and Giuseppina presented the European perspective, highlighting why European school students should care about their peers in developing countries.

OECD Policy Reform Dialogues 2019
On 16th of September, the Swedish capital Stockholm gathered delegations from all over the world. Among presentations and workshops, there were a few panel discussions, where OECD members listened to perspectives of different stakeholders in education. Together they discussed their potential strength of cooperation and their role in making policy reforms more efficient.  The European school student perspective was delivered by Edvardas Vabuolas, Board member of OBESSU.
