Peer education is a kind of informal and non formal education. It is based not just on knowledge but on peer educator's experience and on opinions and actions.
Peer educators are typically the same age or a bit older that the group they are working with. They are mostly not professionals on contrary with teachers. Them two work in different environment and under different conditions, e.g peer education is not exclusively for school-based programmes, but has been used in a wide range of contexts with a diversity of populations, including street youth, factory workers, sex workers, drug users, prisoners, etc, and teacher are mostly employed in schools.
For the people who are educated by peer education, it is probably more interesting, more interactive, it is more based on examples and real life so they will remember more. It is also easier for them to talk about some topics with the people of same age then sharing ideas with people born in different era.
