During the week between the 1st- 5th of April 2019, OBESSU held the Study Session ‘’SexEd IQ: Inclusive and quality sex education - What can school students do?’’ organised in cooperation with the Youth Department of the Council of Europe in the European Youth Centre in Budapest, Hungary.

This Study Session aimed to explore how school student and their unions can contribute to having inclusive and quality sex education in their schools, both as part of the curricula and as in non-formal and informal learning.

The whole Study Session was a great success, bringing together 28 participants from across Europe. During 5 intense working days, participants had the opportunity to gain understanding of terms connected to sex and gender as well as inclusive sex education, get to know the Council of Europe functionning and its work related to the topic, exchange good practices and create a tool to multiply what they have learnt during the week.

Participants went home with lots of ideas on how to make their organisations more inclusive and how to promote quality sex education. Some of them are already planning initiatives on the local, regional and even national level. OBESSU is looking forward to supporting these initiatives!

A big thank you goes out to the prep-team, composed by Sara from the Board, Lukas from the OBESSU Pool of Trainers, Jelena from UNSS, Odeta from LMS, Laszlo from the Council of Europe (CoE) and Samira from the OBESSU Secretariat.

Thank you, for your hard work and dedication!
