A couple of weeks ago we received the positive answer from the Council of Europe’s North South Centre that OBESSU has been selected to participate in the 18th edition of the University on Youth and Development taking place in Mollina, Spain between the 17-23 September 2017! We are very happy that after last year, OBESSU can again have a training activity in Mollina and beneficiate from the great added value of the University and the intercultural learning environment it creates.
In order to make the first preparations to ensure the success of the activities carried out in the framework of the University, partners gathered for a two-day-long intensive brainstorming marathon on the 19-20 June. With the North-South Centre taking the lead, OBESSU hand in hand with other youth organisations (European Youth Forum, AEGEE, IUSY, DYPALL, YEU, INJUVE and the Spanish Youth Council) worked hard on designing the schedule of the week and on discussing the foundations of the joint activities and sessions.
In addition to the organisations’ own training activities, every year a joint theme focusing on a specific, relevant issue is providing space for the approximately 200 participants - coming from each corners of the world - to interact and work together. The joint activities are creating intense debates among young people, thus enriching their learning experience and broadening their perspective. This year, ‘Developing global identities” will be in the focus.
OBESSU will bring a knowledge sharing activity to Mollina with the idea of inviting project leaders who have worked on the implementation of a “Seeds for Integration” initiative. Together – based on their acquired experience – they will develop guidelines on how to design and deliver a successful initiative on migrant and refugee inclusion in secondary education.
