Toward Safe and Ethical Use of Digital Tools in Youth Organization Work (SafetyNET) creates sustainable support systems for youth organizations to acquire the knowledge and skills necessary for ensuring safe, ethical, and privacy-conscious digital work, including the responsible use of emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence. The project will analyse existing policy and practice gaps related to digital safety, privacy, and ethics, and develop evidence-informed tools and recommendations for youth organisations and decision-makers. It will also create spaces for exchange, cooperation, and synergies among stakeholders, while raising awareness about responsible digital practices in the youth sector. Through these activities, the project aims to build sustainable capacities for high-quality digital youth work.

The core objectives of the project are:

  • to map and analyze the existing capacities, tools and internal practices at cross-sectoral level, as well as existing regulations and policies with regards to the use of digital tools and AI
  • to develop a sustainable supporting system for youth organizations including, know how, resources and standardization models which ensure safety, privacy and ethics in the use of digital tools and AI
  • to raise the capacities of youth organizations and youth workers across Europe in the proper use of digital tools with respect to safety, privacy and ethics
  • to develop policy recommendations to ensure that standardized safety, privacy and ethical rules are applied in digital work of youth organizations and programs supporting their work
  • to raise awareness on the importance of the standardization of the use of digital tools and AI in online work of youth organizations and advocate for policy changes at all levels
