SAKKI held its biannual General Assembly

SAKKI held the 14^th General Assembly in Kiljava from 22^nd to 23^rd March 2014, which elected a new Board and Chairmen. At the Assembly, SAKKI also agreed upon the general direction it will be taken towards this term.

In the new Board there are eight actual members and four vice members. The election for the Chairmen was a tight competition but in the end Musa Jallow was elected as the first Vice­Chairman, Sonja Pääsukene as the second Vice­Chairman and Aleksej Fedotov was elected to continue for a second term as the Chairman.

One of the main principles in SAKKI’s new political platform is to focus more on the students’ living conditions. SAKKI demands more affordable and suitable apartments for students. Coherent upper-secondary education is also at the top of our priority list. We at SAKKI believe that vocational education is the future of the Finnish education system.

Henna Kangas and Jasmina Khabbal are also amongst the newly elected Board members of SAKKI and were chosen to be the new international representatives.

I, Henna Kangas, am studying to become a waitress in The Helsinki culinary school Perho. When I have free time I usually hang out with my friends or sing.

I, Jasmina Khabbal am a soon­-to­-be graduate from the South Savo Vocational College as an ICT­ technician. As a past time I play volleyball and cook/bake. We are both thrilled to join the interesting pool of our fellow international advocates.

We want to thank all of our guests from EEO, JOB and NUS who took part in our GA. We are looking forward to meeting all of you again. We also warmly welcome everyone else to join our upcoming events.
