Sign our petition for 6%!

The activity that we organised in our tent and attracted the most attention and the most interesting discussions was a petition. It created debates not only because of the claim but also because of the way we asked people to sign it.

“Each government in Europe must invest at least 6% of GNP in education!” was the cause we were gathering a support for. We did not create this statement out of the blue, but it is something that our membership has agreed on in a resolution called Education in Crisis.

Instead of asking people to sign the petition with their name, we asked them to use their fingerprints to “sign” it. This was our way of showing the importance of the investment we are asking for and also giving everyone, literate or not, the equal possibility to something such as showing your support for a cause.

And as you can see in the picture, we found 486 supporters for our cause during the European Youth Event!

We would like to thank everyone who stopped by and supported and discussed the petition and the issue with us!
