UEM has taken steps towards further promoting inclusion in the organisation!

On the 28th of October, UEM held a follow up activity after the Summer School “Open doors to Inclusion”, aiming at raising awareness on social inclusion. After a game to let to know each other and a short introduction of Qendresa Ibrahimi, PoT member, we moved on to our main topic: social inclusion.

The starting point was a game were participants had to divide themselves in groups. We reflected on how do we understand social inclusion, we defined notions like segregation, integration, exclusion, so that we understood the differences. We defined barriers to social inclusion, we thought of problems and solutions in different domains and areas. Every participant was eager to share their own idea so the atmosphere was really friendly and nice. Afterwards, we had a really awesome group task where we had to depict the ideal society, where everyone is included, through different methods like a news broadcast, a cartoon, a song and a theatre play. As we were all already accustomed to each other, the game went really well. After having a more accurate image of how the ideal society would look like, we reflected more on methods to become more inclusive, solutions and initiatives. Finally, the participants filled the evaluation form that gave us some feedback about the event, and then, we said our goodbyes and our event ended.

Our work team tried to be as inclusive as possible and tried to touch as many aspects of this problems as we managed. We tried to encourage them to take initiative, to change the situation we have right now and, as we eventually saw in the evaluation forms, the participants really enjoyed the event and are definitely going to take some action, thus our goal is achieved
