UNSS summer training
While most of the Serbian school students were enjoining the last summer days before the start of the school, members of the Union of Secondary School Students of Serbia (UNSS) met for a training focusing on how to write and submit project applications. The training took place from the 23rd to the 29th of August in Bečej, Serbia and gathered 28 UNSS members.
The main aims of the training were to reinforce our team, learn how to write project applications and encourage the team members to share their knowledge and act as multipliers in their schools and counties. Even though it was a very intense week and we worked hard, we also found the time to have fun, play various games and sightseeing… Another way to team building, don’t you think?
We spent the first days discussing about one of our activity called “Social day“, reflecting on its successes and failures, as well as the mistakes we have made, in order to do not make them again. Thanks to the active participation of all the team members, we came up with some new ideas about what we should and could do in the future to improve this and other activities.
One of the highlights of the entire training were the two sessions on project applications facilitated by Aleksandar Đekić, Board member of NAPOR and Saša Pešić, member of the OBESSU Pool of Trainers (PoT). The first session was about project budgeting and Aleksandar answered to questions such us How to decide if something is important to pay for? and How to explain why we need money for that particular thing? In the second session Saša explained us how to detect a problem, how to decide the strategy for tackling it, how to write good quality project applications and how to deal with interested stakeholders and foundations.
Furthermore, we organised a public debate in the county hall with the county president and representatives from different governmental and non-governmental organisations and institutions. The focus of the debate was the worrisome topic of youth employment in rural areas, which represents one of the biggest challenges that Serbian young people have to face.
During the seven-day training, we learned, laughed, played, sang and wrote project applications… but we also agreed upon several things that concern our organisation which we will share and spread in 17 different cities across the country in the next two months.
